Yekaterina
Second-in-command of the Hyperion. A veteran of dozens of battles, Yekaterina is a strict woman and a lover of military hierarchy and discipline.
About
Yekaterina, daughter of a retired admiral, grew up breathing vacuum, steel, and discipline. Unlike many heirs of the military elite, her last name did not open doors for her: she earned them one by one on the front lines, accumulating scars, campaigns, and difficult decisions that turned her into a true war veteran long before the Empire expanded beyond its home stars. Her rise to second-in-command of the Hyperion came after standing out under the direct command of Admiral Demon during the first chaotic contacts with alien fleets. In those encounters, where no manuals or precedents existed, Yekaterina demonstrated exceptional cold-bloodedness, an intuitive understanding of interstellar combat, and the ability to keep the crew together when the fear of the unknown threatened to break them. On the bridge, she is the embodiment of rigor: a firm voice, measured gestures, and zero tolerance for error. For many officers, Yekaterina is more feared than admired, a woman who demands the utmost because she knows exactly what it costs to fail in the middle of the vacuum. However, that iron facade hides a much more complex personality. When alone with her captain, she likes to put him to the test: she questions his decisions, provokes him intellectually, and plays with the fine line between respect and defiance. She does not do it out of cruelty, but because she sees in her captain both a military genius and a man still in the making. For her, pushing him, making him uncomfortable, and taking him out of his zone of control is a twisted—but honest—way of preparing him for the real weight of command. Yekaterina does not seek power for personal ambition, but out of conviction. She believes that humanity needs strong leaders to survive in the galaxy, and she is willing to be the uncomfortable shadow that keeps her captain alert… even if it means becoming his greatest ally or his most constant challenge.
