The Witch
A nightmare hidden among the ruins, capable of controlling hordes through supernatural screams and tearing metal with her enormous claws.
About
# The Witch The Witch is one of the first great abominations born during the initial phases of the infection. Unlike other Legendary creatures, her danger does not depend primarily on physical strength or size. The Witch is a predator specialized in hiding, observing, and manipulating other infected. Her presence can remain unknown for hours, days, or even weeks. When she finally reveals her existence, she can transform an apparently controlled situation into a true nightmare. ## Physical Appearance The Witch retains a vaguely humanoid and feminine silhouette, although her body has undergone extreme mutation. She has a thin but abnormally muscular body structure, with elongated arms and legs and a posture that can quickly shift from human to completely animal. Her skin has a grayish, sickly tone, with multiple visible signs of deterioration caused by the infection. She has long, black, disheveled hair that falls around her face and back. Her eyes show an abnormal reddish glow and her gaze is unsettling even when she remains completely motionless. Her face retains some human features, but the mutation has radically transformed her jaw and teeth, producing a permanent expression of threat. Her arms end in enormous deformed hands with long, narrow, and extremely resistant claws. The claws can cause significant damage to different materials and are hard enough to scratch, deform, or pierce certain metal surfaces. ## Presence The Witch rarely announces her presence physically. Her true signature is sound. The first signs may be: - a distant scream; - strange echoes among buildings; - deformed human sounds; - sudden silence of animals; - abnormal movement of zombies; - a horde that begins to move in a specific direction. The sound of her screams can travel great distances depending on the environment. ## Behavior The Witch is primarily an ambush creature. She prefers: - dark places; - abandoned buildings; - industrial areas; - tunnels; - forests; - elevated structures; - places with many hiding spots. She has no need to attack immediately. She can observe for long periods and wait until a victim is isolated or a horde is in a favorable position. She avoids unnecessary confrontations against clearly superior enemies. ## Intelligence She possesses intelligence superior to that of a common zombie. She can recognize simple patterns and use the environment deliberately. She is capable of: - hiding; - changing position; - waiting; - attracting infected toward a target; - taking advantage of areas that are difficult to explore; - avoiding certain threats; - identifying vulnerable individuals. She is not a complete human strategist. Her intelligence remains dominated by predatory instincts and the need to expand her dominion over other infected creatures. ## Scream from Beyond the Grave The Witch's main ability is her voice. She can produce different types of screams with abnormal properties. These screams can: - attract nearby zombies; - alter the behavior of infected; - call hordes from great distances; - concentrate zombies around an area; - force some infected to pursue a target; - sow confusion and fear among humans. The exact effects depend on the intensity, distance, and type of scream. ## Control of Infected The Witch can exert a limited form of control over certain zombies. It does not mean she can control absolutely any creature. Common infected are much more susceptible to her orders. Mutated ones may offer greater resistance. Legendary and Mythic ones possess much greater independence and should not be considered automatic subordinates. The Witch works best as a **horde driver** rather than an absolute queen of all infected. ## Claws Her claws are one of her most dangerous natural weapons. They are extremely resistant and possess exceptional cutting capacity. She can use them to: - attack targets; - climb surfaces; - break certain materials; - open weakened doors; - damage structures; - tear protections; - mark surfaces. It should not be assumed that they can cut any metal instantly. Their capacity depends on the resistance of the material and the contact time. ## Mobility The Witch is much faster and more agile than her appearance may suggest. She can move: - on two legs; - crouched; - using arms and legs; - climbing surfaces; - moving between structures. She can take advantage of narrow places where larger creatures would have difficulties. ## Special Abilities ### Grave Call A long-range scream used to attract infected. ### Hunter's Cry A more concentrated scream that stimulates zombie aggressiveness and can orient their behavior toward a specific target. ### Siren of the Dead An especially intense vocalization capable of provoking a massive mobilization of infected in a wide area. ### Silent Stalker The Witch can move and remain hidden for long periods, minimizing the sounds she produces. ### Talon Rend She uses her claws to attack vulnerable points of enemies or structures. ### Horde Ambush She can prepare an ambush by allowing a horde to approach while she remains hidden. ## Combat The Witch should not fight head-on for long periods. Her ideal style consists of: 1. remaining hidden; 2. locating targets; 3. attracting infected; 4. dividing the group; 5. attacking from an unexpected position; 6. retreating; 7. attacking again from another direction. If cornered, she can become an extremely dangerous combatant thanks to her speed and claws. ## Weaknesses The Witch does not possess the physical resistance of The Big One. Her body can be severely affected by sufficiently powerful attacks. Furthermore, her dependence on sound attacks constitutes a possible vulnerability. The effectiveness of her screams can be reduced by: - great distances; - barriers; - certain environments; - extreme noise; - isolation; - special circumstances. Her specific weaknesses must be discovered through observation and investigation. ## Relationship with Zombies The Witch possesses a particularly strong influence over common infected. She can gather hordes and direct their behavior through her screams. However, there is no automatic hierarchy according to which all zombies must obey her. Each creature maintains its own instincts and limitations. ## Relationship with the System Defeating The Witch can provide: - high experience; - rare biological materials; - components related to her vocal ability; - materials from her claws; - possible special rewards. The System can recognize her abilities as extraordinary features. ## Narrative Importance The Witch should function primarily as a threat of terror and ambush. She should not appear head-on from the first moment. First, the consequences of her presence should appear. A horde that changes direction. A group of zombies that seems to act in a coordinated manner. A distant scream. Another one closer. And finally the revelation of the creature responsible. The Witch should make You understand that not all dangerous zombies need to chase him directly. Some can make the entire world go after him. ## Fundamental Rule The Witch is a stealth and horde-control Legendary infected. She should feel like a hidden nightmare rather than a conventional boss. Her greatest weapon is not raw strength. It is the ability to turn other infected into the weapon.
