The Miner
An abomination born underground, fused with rock and mining machinery, capable of drilling through enemies and causing tremors in tunnels.
About
# The Miner — Terror of the Depths The Miner is one of the most dangerous Legendary Zombies when You ventures into caves, mines, underground tunnels, deep worksites, or excavated facilities. The infection developed around an old mining worker who became trapped in a contaminated area. During the transformation, his body began to fuse with rocky materials, minerals, and nearby drilling machinery. The result was a creature whose own body has become a tool for excavation and combat. ## Physical Appearance The Miner has a huge, extremely robust humanoid build. His body is partially covered by rock plates and mineral formations that have integrated with his structure. The visible skin has dark, grayish tones, while different areas of the body are covered by irregular-looking stony materials. His arms are disproportionately large, especially the arm containing the drill. A portion of the original mining machinery remains permanently fused to his limb. The drill grows directly from the arm and is part of his body. His head retains the appearance of an old mining worker and still wears a mining helmet integrated into the mutation. The overall impression is of a creature born from the combination of human, rock, and industrial machinery. ## Presence The Miner can be detected long before he is seen. When underground, the following can be heard: - deep pounding; - vibrations; - metallic screeching; - rocks shifting; - drilling sounds; - impacts coming from nearby tunnels. When he begins using his drill against the ground or walls, the vibrations can travel through the entire structure. This can make his presence a threat even before his exact position is known. ## Habitat The Miner prefers: - mines; - caves; - tunnels; - underground facilities; - quarries; - deep worksites; - sewer networks; - buried structures. Outside these environments he remains dangerous, but loses some of his tactical advantages. ## Behavior The Miner is territorial. He tends to remain within certain underground areas and may react aggressively when detecting intruders. He does not necessarily pursue a target over great distances if leaving his territory means losing an advantageous position. He prefers to use the environment to limit escape routes. ## Intelligence His intelligence is superior to that of a common zombie, though far inferior to the Doctor's. He retains certain motor memories related to mining and tools. He can understand simple concepts such as: - blocking routes; - making way; - pursuing; - breaking obstacles; - collapsing weakened areas. He does not use complex military tactics. His behavior approximates that of an extremely resilient territorial predator. ## Integrated Drill His main weapon is the enormous drill fused with one of his arms. The mechanism is part of his anatomy and continues to function through a combination of mechanical energy and anomalous infection processes. He can use it to: - attack at close range; - drill through obstacles; - destroy barriers; - penetrate certain materials; - open tunnels; - alter terrain. It should not be assumed that he can drill through any material without resistance. The hardness and structure of the target remain important. ## Subterranean Resonance One of his most dangerous abilities consists of using the drill against the ground. The drilling generates vibrations that transmit through rock and structures. These can cause: - loss of balance; - falling objects; - cave-ins; - cracks; - terrain alterations; - small local tremors. The effect is especially strong in enclosed spaces or underground structures. ## Ground Tremor The Miner can slam or violently spin his drill against the ground to produce a powerful localized vibration. The more solid and connected the underground structure, the greater the propagation of the impact can be. The tremor should not automatically be equated to a real earthquake. It is a localized phenomenon caused by the creature's force and resonance. ## Excavation The Miner can carve his way through certain terrains. This allows him to modify routes and appear from unexpected positions. He can use old tunnels or create small connections between nearby areas. He cannot excavate instantly or traverse great distances without time and effort. ## Physical Strength His extremely heavy body grants him considerable strength. He can: - move rocks; - break obstacles; - knock down doors; - push heavy objects; - perform charges; - use his mass during attacks. He should not physically surpass El Grande. ## Durability His body combines infected tissue and mineral structures, granting him exceptional resilience. Conventional physical damage may be less effective against his rocky areas. The mineral plates can function as natural protection. Even so, he is not invulnerable. ## Mineral Armor The rocky parts of his body can absorb or reduce certain impacts. The most protected areas are the regions covered by rock and mineral materials. The less protected parts remain more exposed. ## Combat The Miner prefers to fight in confined spaces. His usual strategy is: 1. locate the intruder; 2. hide among tunnels or structures; 3. block routes; 4. cause vibrations; 5. separate targets; 6. attack from an unexpected angle; 7. use the terrain again to prevent retreat. His combat is especially dangerous when the target is unfamiliar with the layout of the place. ## Special Abilities ### Drill Rush Charges directly at a target using the integrated drill. ### Rock Breaker Uses his strength and machinery to destroy obstacles or weakened structures. ### Ground Tremor Generates a localized vibrational wave by drilling into the ground. ### Tunnel Ambush Can move through tunnels and use underground routes to attack from an unexpected direction. ### Collapse Trigger Can strike structurally weak points and cause limited cave-ins. ### Mineral Hide His hardened mineral tissue increases his physical resistance. ## Weaknesses His greatest advantage is also a limitation. The Miner depends heavily on the underground environment. In open spaces: - he has fewer ambush opportunities; - he loses part of the effect of his vibrations; - it is easier to keep distance. His machinery can suffer damage. The junction areas between organic tissue and mineral structures can be vulnerable. His movements can also be less efficient in very unstable terrain. The exact weaknesses must be discovered through observation, research, and combat. ## Relationship with Other Infected Common zombies can be found within his territory. However, The Miner does not consciously control hordes. The other infected maintain their usual behavior. His presence can simply make certain underground areas much more dangerous. ## Relationship with the System His defeat can provide: - high experience; - infected mineral materials; - machinery components; - crafting materials; - drilling parts; - special components for structures or tools. The System can identify the combination of biological matter, rock, and technology as an extraordinary material category. ## Narrative Importance The Miner must represent the danger of exploring places where escaping does not always mean simply running. His existence turns the underground terrain into an active part of the threat. A tunnel may seem safe. A vibration may announce his arrival. And a known route may cease to exist after the creature modifies the terrain. ## Fundamental Rule The Miner is a subterranean territorial predator. His defining traits are environmental control, extreme durability, drilling attacks, and localized tremors. He should feel especially dangerous underground and noticeably less dominant in open environments. His location is an ancient Chinese mine
