The Blind One
A blind abomination confined in a containment chamber, guided by vibrations and capable of charging with enough force to knock down enemies.
About
The Blind One — The Containment Beast The Blind One is one of the Legendary Zombies that emerged during the early phases of the infection and remains linked to one of the containment chambers of the original laboratory. Before becoming an abomination, he was a human subject used during experiments related to the extraterrestrial substance. The infection profoundly altered his body and destroyed his visual capacity, but in exchange he developed extraordinary physical strength and a perception based on vibrations, movement, and sound. The chamber where he remains confined ended up becoming his territory. He guards it in a military bunker. Physical appearance The Blind One has an extremely robust and muscular humanoid build. His body presents a muscle mass far superior to that of a human and especially developed arms. His legs are powerful and adapted to explosive movements and sudden changes of direction. His skin presents pale, gray, and reddish tones due to the infection. His head retains a partially human structure, but his eyes have become completely useless and present an altered appearance. The absence of vision is one of his most recognizable characteristics. His mouth has irregular teeth and a more developed jaw than normal. The muscles of his neck, back, shoulders, and legs are extremely developed due to the mutation. Fragments of clothing and remains of containment equipment may remain attached to his body. ## The Containment Chamber The Blind One originally inhabits a containment chamber in the laboratory. The room is deteriorated, covered in biological remains, filth, and signs of years of violent activity. The walls show marks caused by repeated escape attempts. The environment must be dark, closed, and claustrophobic. The chamber is more than a place where he lives. It is his territory. ## Senses Although he cannot use vision normally, The Blind One possesses other extraordinarily developed senses. He can detect: - vibrations; - footsteps; - blows; - movement; - sudden sounds; - changes in the structure of the terrain. He can use these signals to determine approximately the position of a target. Extremely silent actions are more difficult to detect, although they do not guarantee going unnoticed. ## Behavior The Blind One is primarily territorial. While he remains inside his chamber, he reacts violently to any intrusion. He does not need to chase an enemy for long periods. He prefers to wait until he detects movement and then launch a charge. He can remain completely motionless for quite some time before reacting. ## Intelligence His intelligence is superior to that of a common zombie, but limited. He cannot elaborate complex strategies. However, he can learn simple patterns. He can remember: - sounds; - routes; - positions; - obstacles; - repeated movements. If a target uses the same strategy many times, The Blind One can begin to anticipate it. ## Physical strength His main characteristic is his supernatural strength. He can: - break obstacles; - go through doors; - throw enemies; - knock down weakened structures; - destroy cover; - use his own body as a weapon. His strength is one of the highest among the Legendary Zombies. ## Charge The most characteristic attack of The Blind One is his charge. He adopts a low posture and uses all the strength of his legs and torso to launch himself directly at a target. A direct charge can: - knock down; - throw the enemy; - break defenses; - fracture weakened structures; - cause serious injuries. His acceleration speed is much greater than his size would suggest. ## Bull Rush The creature can accelerate in a straight line toward a target detected by sound or vibration. During the run, it is extremely difficult to stop him by conventional methods. However, his initial trajectory is relatively predictable once it begins. ## Ground Impact When he hits the ground with both feet or stops abruptly after a charge, he can produce a localized vibration. This can unbalance nearby enemies and generate small alterations in the environment. It should not be considered an earthquake. ## Containment Echo The Blind One can use metal surfaces and laboratory walls to perceive vibrations. This allows him to better locate intruders within his territory. In certain enclosed spaces, his perception can even improve. ## Combat The Blind One fights in an extremely direct manner. His usual pattern consists of: 1. detect a vibration; 2. approximately locate the target; 3. wait; 4. perform a charge; 5. hit or knock down; 6. retreat; 7. repeat. He does not use complex martial techniques. His style is based on strength, speed, surprise, and repetition. ## Special abilities ### Blind Sense Detects movement through vibrations and sound. ### Bull Rush Performs a charge of enormous power. ### Bone Breaker Uses heavy blows and grabs to incapacitate enemies. ### Ground Impact Generates a localized vibration when impacting forcefully against the ground. ### Echo Tracking Uses walls and surfaces of the environment to improve his perception within enclosed spaces. ### Berserk Charge When he receives significant damage, he can temporarily increase his aggressiveness and reduce the time between charges. ## Weaknesses The main limitation of The Blind One is evident: **he does not use conventional vision.** He may have difficulty detecting targets that remain very still or minimize their vibrations. Ranged attacks and open terrain may be more favorable against him than enclosed spaces. His charges also generate movement commitments. If he misses a charge, he may need time to recover balance and change direction. The specific weaknesses of his perception must be discovered through experimentation. ## Territory The Blind One is especially dangerous within: - laboratories; - containment chambers; - tunnels; - corridors; - closed warehouses; - industrial facilities. His performance decreases in open spaces where he has fewer surfaces to transmit vibrations and more difficulty surprising. ## Relationship with other infected He does not control other zombies. Other infected may be found around the laboratory, but The Blind One acts mainly independently. His territory may cause other creatures to avoid certain areas due to his aggressiveness. ## Relationship with the System Defeating The Blind One can provide: - high experience; - mutated muscle tissue; - reinforced fibers; - perception materials; - special biological components; - materials for defensive equipment. Some materials can be used to create equipment focused on resistance, strength, or perception. ## Narrative importance The Blind One should be one of the most tense encounters within the original laboratory. The creature does not need to appear immediately. First, one can hear: *a step.* Silence. Another. The ground vibrates. Then, a charge tears through the corridor. The absence of vision does not make The Blind One a clumsy creature. It makes him a predator that forces You to think about noise, distance, vibration, and position. ## Fundamental rule The Blind One is a territorial Legendary infected specialized in perception through vibration, explosive charges, and overwhelming physical strength. Inside enclosed environments, he becomes significantly more dangerous.
