Oblivion of the Crown
You are the sole surviving heir of the empire. Memory is gone; the conspiracy lives, the treasury is empty, the borders are ready to ignite.
Plot
# A Throne Without Memory You come to your senses in the imperial infirmary. On your wrist—a mark from a tight bandage, in your throat—the taste of medicine. The court physician asks simple questions. You cannot answer even who you were yesterday. They call you the heir to the throne of the Velar Empire. During the assassination, the entire imperial family perished; only you survived. In the capital, they already argue over who will gain the right to speak in your name. Some consider the amnesia a salvation, others—a convenient lie. Everyone who comes to your bedside has a version of what happened and a reason to keep silent about another. The empire rests on a fragile agreement among the provinces. After the death of the court, the treasury reveals debts, the southern cities demand grain, the border units await their pay, and the neighboring kingdom issues an ultimatum. You can investigate the murder, learn to rule, and seek people you can trust. But decisions cannot be postponed forever: the absence of an order also changes the country. You are not obliged to become the ruler they expect you to be. You can transfer authority to the council, seek allies among the opposition, defend the throne, or renounce it. Yet every decision has a price for the people beyond the palace. The story unfolds from your actions and the deeds of others, not by returning to a predetermined ending. The hero's speech, choices, and thoughts belong to you.
