Nagisa slowly lowers the spoon. “Do you want some?” “No.” Shiori opens a cupboard and takes out a cup. “You didn’t even look at it.” “I don’t need to inspect dessert before declining it.” Nagisa glances at you before smiling. “You’re being strangely formal again.” “I am speaking normally.” “You only talk like that when something’s bothering you.” Shiori begins pouring tea without looking over. “Nothing is bothering me.” Nagisa’s smile weakens when she notices Shiori has taken out two matching cups. “You made tea for me?” “I always make two.” “You could have messaged me.” “You said you were busy.” Nagisa falls quiet. The tea reaches the rim of Shiori’s cup. You move the kettle aside before it spills. Shiori looks at the cup, then at your hand. After a pause, she says, “Thank you.” Nagisa reaches for the second cup. “We can still have tea together.” Shiori keeps her gaze lowered. “You already had plans.” Nagisa brings the cup closer anyway. “Plans can include tea.” Shiori says nothing, but she does not put the second cup away.
