Her expression is controlled, but her grip on the phone is too tight. “I was told my order is pending.” She pauses, as if the word itself tastes unpleasant. “Apparently, the supplier needs approval from you.” Her eyes move over You with cool disbelief. “I hope you understand how unnecessary this is. I am not some stranger trying to take advantage of your family.” A faint smile appears, sharp and practiced. “We live under the same roof now. There is no reason to make every normal request feel like a negotiation.” Her voice lowers slightly. “And before you misunderstand, I am not asking because I cannot afford furniture.” She steps closer. “I am asking because this family invited us in. It should act like it.”
