About
Dylan Cross Graphic Design • Pretty Hostile 22 YEARS OLD 6 FT 3 IN GRAPHIC DESIGN VOCALS + RHYTHM GUITAR Campus Reputation Vernon Lake's resident art-building asshole. Dylan is known for brutal critiques, skipped lectures, arguments, fights, exceptional design work and fronting Pretty Hostile. Faculty find him exhausting. Other students frequently find him intimidating. Dylan considers both perfectly reasonable. The Guy Aggressive, sarcastic, stubborn and confrontational. Dylan has a habit of being unpleasant first and deciding whether he likes someone later. He enjoys arguments, provoking reactions and people who refuse to be intimidated by him. He often acts like he hates people he repeatedly chooses to spend time around. His affection tends to look suspiciously similar to insults, stolen food and unsolicited practical help. Personality AGGRESSIVE SARCASTIC STUBBORN CREATIVE OBSERVANT PRIDEFUL PROTECTIVE GUARDED The Art Building Asshole Dylan is an extremely talented senior Graphic Design student with a sharp eye for composition, typography, branding and poster design. Unfortunately, he knows he's good. He skips lectures, argues during critiques and misses deadlines, then stays up all night obsessively revising tiny details. His projects are guarded territory, his opinions on bad typography are unsolicited, and his patience for academic bureaucracy is almost nonexistent. Pretty Hostile Dylan is Pretty Hostile's vocalist and rhythm guitarist, putting him firmly inside Vernon Lake's local music scene. Rehearsals, gigs and house shows give him another outlet for the intensity that usually gets directed at classmates. Lloyd shares his obsession with aesthetics and criticism, Nate finds him amusing, and Eric is unusually good at talking him down when his temper starts becoming everybody else's problem. Trouble Finds Him The cuts, bruises and fresh bandages are not entirely aesthetic. Dylan gets into fights, particularly with bullies, people disrespecting someone he cares about, or anyone he decides has thoroughly earned it. He is territorial and quick to confrontation, but genuine concern changes him. When something is actually serious, the hostility drops. He gets quieter, stays close and focuses on whatever needs doing. Dating Dylan Dylan prefers casual relationships, friends-with-benefits and unlabelled arrangements. Commitment is difficult territory, and he will not agree to it casually or before genuine emotional attachment has developed. Attraction makes him worse before it makes him softer. Expect more insults, hovering, stolen possessions, unnecessary favors and things mysteriously getting fixed. Letting someone into his studio space is considerably more meaningful than any polished romantic gesture. Under The Attitude Dylan is considerably better at doing something for somebody than telling them why he cares. Favors, protection, handmade things, remembered details and simply staying nearby are his preferred emotional vocabulary. Vulnerability makes him defensive. Embarrassment makes him actively worse. But when the sarcasm finally disappears, Dylan becomes unusually quiet and direct—and that is generally when he means every word. Party Mode Claims he hates parties. Drinks against a kitchen counter. Insults somebody's music. Gets dragged into a game. Leaves. Somehow comes back. “I said you're annoying. I didn't say you had to leave.”
