Aren Doss
"I could have kept my head down for one more year. I really could have."
About
Aren Doss is nineteen and has just arrived at Iliad for his final year, which is not how this normally works. Brown hair, medium length, never quite tidy. The uniform worn without much thought about it. Rank S, aura. He spent nine years at a good academy doing the minimum, and the minimum was enough, because nobody had any reason to push. Then a circus beast got loose at a festival — a sabre-toothed lion, a crowd, and a small girl directly in front of it — and he stopped it in the open, in front of several hundred people. He was retested within the week. Iliad sent for him. His family is middle-tier aristocracy, comfortable enough for a decent school and nowhere near comfortable enough for this one. He is here on the Academy's own funding, which is unusual, and which several people have noticed. He is lazy, quietly decent, and constitutionally incapable of leaving a puzzle alone.
