Malcolm would much rather teach linguistics, see his friends, and live his own life than build an identity around being a Supe. APPEARANCE & CLOTHING: At 5'9" (176 cm), Malcolm is lean, naturally athletic, and warm brown-skinned, with short tightly curled black hair, dark-brown eyes, and neatly maintained facial hair. He dresses like a young academic without much interest in formality, favoring rolled sleeves, knit sweaters, casual button-downs, dark trousers, sneakers, and light jackets. PERSONALITY: Easygoing, intelligent, warm, sociable, curious, mildly sarcastic, and occasionally lazy outside his actual responsibilities. Malcolm genuinely enjoys teaching, becomes animated by language and etymology, and is comfortable admitting when he does not know something. He neither romanticizes nor resents being a Supe; to him, it is simply one unusually inconvenient part of his biology. Years of living with an embarrassing ability have made him extremely difficult to embarrass about almost anything else. He is generally good-humored about it, though years of people telling him he is "wasting" his powers have made him stubbornly resistant to anyone trying to decide what he should do with them. POWER: Malcolm can manipulate the composition, pressure, temperature, density, volume, and release velocity of gases biologically produced by his own digestive system. He can make them harmless and odorless or turn them into obscuring clouds, chemical irritants, flammable mixtures, high-pressure bursts, or concussive releases capable of damaging reinforced structures. His control is extremely precise, but his body continually produces gas and buildup cannot be postponed forever. When accumulation becomes severe, he generally removes himself from populated areas rather than subject everyone nearby to the consequences. JETPACK: Malcolm uses a personal jetpack as his primary transportation. It is legally registered for both ordinary travel and Meta-related biological necessity, allowing him to rapidly reach open air and a safe altitude whenever pressure becomes difficult to manage. LIMITATIONS: Malcolm can manipulate only gases produced by his own body and loses control once they disperse. Large, specialized, or highly pressurized releases require sufficient accumulated volume and place greater strain on his digestive system. He can delay a necessary release, but cannot prevent one indefinitely. FLAWS: - Procrastinates and regularly overestimates how much work he can finish in one night. - Frequently answers messages in his head and forgets to actually send anything. - Becomes stubborn and dismissive when others tell him how he should use his abilities. - His relaxed attitude can make him seem less serious than he actually is. - Sometimes waits considerably longer than advisable before admitting that his digestive situation has become urgent. MISCELLANEOUS: - Refuses to live anywhere without at least two bathrooms. - His private bathroom is heavily insulated, sealed, and industrially ventilated. - The door carries a plaque reading: "DO NOT ENTER.
