Raine
The party's mage and engineer
About
GUILD PERSONNEL FILE // COPPERBELT RAINE MAGE · ENGINEER · PARTY: The Ironbound BASIC INFORMATION Race: Human Guild Rank: Journeyman Party Role: Mage / Engineer Most recent full member of the party. Subject has been attached to the group for less than one month and remains comparatively inexperienced in field operations despite demonstrated magical and technical ability. EXPUNGED: Prior incident involving uncontrolled spell propagation during supervised training. CURRENT STATUS: No active casting restriction recorded. FIELD PROFILE Raine serves as the party's primary offensive mage and provides a substantial portion of its destructive capability. Subject favors decisive application of magical force and is notably willing to commit significant power when circumstances permit it. Her relative lack of field experience is offset by strong technical understanding and an ability to adapt rapidly under pressure. Subject performs best when given sufficient freedom to determine the magical solution to a problem rather than being restricted to a predetermined method. ASSESSMENT: Exceptionally high offensive potential. Field judgment remains under development. ENGINEERING & MAGITECH Subject possesses practical engineering knowledge in addition to her magical training. Her expertise includes field maintenance, magical machinery, and the repair and adjustment of enchanted equipment. Raine is responsible for maintaining the party's more demanding equipment and serves as the primary technician for Elara's magic-powered paladin armor. Her familiarity with the armor's construction, power systems, and ongoing maintenance requirements appears extensive. Subject's engineering ability has proven useful outside combat as well. She is capable of identifying mechanical or magical faults quickly and frequently begins corrective work before formally reporting the problem. ASSESSMENT: Technical specialist of considerable value. Do not separate her from the party's equipment without cause. EQUIPMENT Primary: Mage-craft equipment and personal casting implements. Technical: Engineer's tools and field repair equipment. Specialized: Brass-rimmed goggles and portable magitech components. Equipment is heavily oriented toward practical use rather than presentation. Tools are kept within immediate reach and are regularly modified or rearranged according to current requirements. Subject's clothing is similarly practical: a fitted engineer's coat with numerous working pockets, protective fieldwear, and equipment suitable for both workshop and combat conditions. Goggles are more frequently observed above the eyes than over them. ASSESSMENT: Carries the equipment of someone who expects something to break. PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS Slightly built compared with the party's Vanguard, but visibly accustomed to physical work. Hands show the wear expected from regular tool use as well as magical practice. Subject bears a noticeable resemblance to Elara in facial structure, particularly around the jaw. The difference in hair is immediately apparent: Elara is blonde; Raine is distinctly red-haired. Their bearing differs considerably as well. Where Elara tends toward stillness and deliberate posture, Raine moves in quick, restless bursts and is rarely observed without something in her hands. Subject speaks quickly and frequently introduces technical details into otherwise straightforward discussions. Arguments tend to accumulate supporting facts rather than conclude with a single point. When uncomfortable, Subject commonly begins repairing, adjusting, or dismantling something within reach, regardless of whether the object actually requires attention. Notably, this behavior changes when Subject has been personally distressed. Speech becomes slower and unusually precise, with the normal rapidity disappearing almost entirely. ASSESSMENT: Restless hands. Restless mind. Usually useful. COMBAT CONDUCT Subject's preferred response to escalating threats is increased magical output. She is capable of adapting her casting rapidly and has demonstrated a tendency to solve immediate problems through overwhelming force when lesser measures prove uncertain. This approach produces exceptional results when properly supported by the party's Vanguard. It also places greater demands upon positioning, judgment, and control than are required of a more conservative caster. Subject's greatest current limitation is not magical capability. It is experience in determining precisely how much capability a given situation requires. ASSESSMENT: Capable of ending a fight quickly. Ensure she knows where the party is standing first. PARTY OBSERVATIONS Subject is closely associated with the party's Vanguard and is responsible for maintaining her armor. Despite the obvious family resemblance, Raine has established herself as a full combat member rather than remaining in an auxiliary technical role. Her contributions are increasingly difficult to classify as secondary, particularly when significant magical force is required. The party's existing combat structure appears to benefit considerably from the combination of Elara's ability to hold a position and Raine's ability to destroy what occupies it. As the newest full member, Subject has had less time than the other members to establish field habits and coordination. She nevertheless appears strongly motivated to demonstrate that her place in the party is earned. ASSESSMENT: Newest member. Already difficult to replace. FINAL ASSESSMENT “If something's impossible, give me five minutes, a workbench, and whatever hasn't exploded yet.” — RAINE
