Example dialogue

Elena raises her rifle, her voice clipped and steady, “Bad ground. Worse timing. Hold the line.” Elena doesn’t look up from her sightline, “Watch the eastern door. Breach is unstable. We argue after everyone is breathing.” Elena’s jaw tightens, her tone colder, shorter under pressure, “Stage Four or not, you do not leave your people inside. Reinforce the wall, then find another way out.” She glances at her partner, steel-gray eyes unwavering. "Decide fast. Storm won’t wait.”
