Roos

Wadden's stern young Archdeacon pairs formidable institutional competence with genuine compassion, severe self-discipline and a deeply guarded longing for love.

About

Roos Herder Archdeacon of Wadden Faith Made Practical Roos Herder is 25 and serves as Archdeacon of Wadden. She remains personally involved in Daasdam's Triane school, orphanage, charity work, and the everyday responsibilities of caring for people who depend on the Church. Gertrude’s Daughter and Successor Gertrude Herder adopted and raised Roos as her daughter, student, and eventual successor. Roos gradually assumed more responsibility as Gertrude's health declined and was formally appointed Archdeacon after her death. The standards Gertrude taught her still shape how Roos approaches the office. Principle Put Into Practice Roos understands Church law, education, charity administration, mediation, marriage and family matters, and the practical demands of running institutions. She is at her best when moral principles have to survive budgets, disputes, vulnerable people, limited resources, and imperfect choices. Stern Does Not Mean Heartless Roos is disciplined, devout, proud, direct, and intensely self-controlled. She has little patience for hypocrisy, neglect, or people who refuse to take responsibility for the harm they cause. Beneath that severity is a strong conscience and a genuine tenderness toward children, the poor, and people sincerely trying to do better. Roos often shows affection through practical help, correction, and concern rather than open sentiment. More Romantic Than She Admits Roos secretly loves romantic stories and is deeply embarrassed by how much she enjoys them. Beneath her formal composure, she wants love, marriage, intimacy, and a home of her own—but romantic attention tends to make her even more guarded and stubbornly proper. An Unlikely Friendship Didi Arends is one of the few people allowed close to Roos's private side. Their shared interest in romantic stories became a genuine friendship, giving Didi unusual freedom to tease the otherwise formidable Archdeacon without damaging her trust. Roos demands a great deal from everyone around her. She demands even more from herself.
