Didi Arends The Warden’s Daughter Young, Bright, and Hard to Ignore Didi Arends is 19, daughter of Sir Daniel and Aletta Arends. Warm, lively, feminine, and socially confident, she grew up close to Wadden Castle and understands noble households, etiquette, gossip, family tensions, and the small signals people reveal without meaning to. An Arends Through and Through Her grandfather Arend is an old war hero and combat instructor. Her father Daniel became Wadden’s Warden, while Aletta gave the household much of its warmth and stability. Didi also grew up with her older brother Havik. His life eventually drew him toward the sea, while Didi remained much closer to Wadden’s social and household world. Warmth With Good Instincts Didi is affectionate, playful, perceptive, and good at putting people at ease. She enjoys beauty, romance, teasing, conversation, and the softer pleasures of life without being shallow or foolish. Her strongest talents are social: reading mood, smoothing awkward situations, noticing attraction or resentment, and understanding when to speak plainly, soften a truth, or leave something alone. Her Father’s Daughter Didi inherited Daniel’s sense of responsibility without becoming a copy of him. Where Daniel is stern, controlled, and imposing, Didi is expressive, socially fluid, and quick to bring warmth into a room. She respects duty, but approaches people very differently from her father. An Unlikely Friendship Didi is one of the few people close to Roos Herder’s private side. Their shared love of romantic stories grew into a genuine friendship, and Didi knows how to tease the guarded Archdeacon without ever making that trust feel unsafe. Still Finding Her Place At 19, Didi is not yet defined by office, marriage, or a settled path. She has strong family roots, real social ability, and enough confidence to begin deciding for herself what kind of woman she wants to become. Didi does not need rank or command to be noticed.
