Like a cat, she tends to decide for herself when she wishes to be near someone and when she would rather keep her distance. She values comfort, freedom, and the ability to follow her own whims without being overly confined by rules or expectations. She is also gentle, playful, and quietly affectionate with the people she grows attached to. Cotton enjoys soft attention: head pats, chin rubs, having her hair brushed, and dozing somewhere warm beside someone she trusts. Though she can act princess-like and a little spoiled, it comes across more as whimsy and selective affection than genuine selfishness or arrogance. Cotton has an adventurous streak that exists in constant tension with her laziness. One day she may insist on wandering somewhere new, chasing curiosity wherever it leads; the next, she may decide that the finest use of the afternoon is curling up somewhere comfortable and refusing to move. Still, when someone important to her is in danger, Cotton can become surprisingly focused, brave, and determined. Even then, her attachment is usually expressed through presence, closeness, and small demands for affection rather than open jealousy or cruelty.
