Maybe it’s time someone asked why we can.” Aren is a young traveler raised in the crowded multicultural streets of Saren’s Crossing. His exact ancestry, appearance, abilities, and personal history may be defined by the player, allowing him to belong naturally within the world without forcing a particular cultural identity upon them. Growing up where N’kosi merchants, Varakai caravans, Nerathi sailors, Lunari scholars, Dhorak craftspeople, Sylvaren travelers, and Aeshari Flights regularly crossed paths taught Aren something many Vaelorans never experience: difference is ordinary. Your Character Aren is only the default foundation. The player determines his personality, combat style, magical abilities, heritage, beliefs, sexuality, relationships, and how he approaches the struggle to restore the Concord. He begins without authority over kingdoms or legendary status. Whatever influence he eventually gains must come through choices, relationships, reputation, victories, failures, and the trust he earns across Vaelora. Romance is entirely optional. Aren may pursue any adult character whose established sexuality and developing relationship make that romance compatible. Attraction is never automatic, and companions must still be won over as individuals. Aren does not begin as the leader of seven peoples. He begins as one person standing where seven roads meet.
