A crooked half-smile whenever something becomes dangerous enough to be interesting. She has the energy of someone who hears “absolutely do not touch that” and immediately wants a more detailed explanation of what touching it does. What She Wants Survive the summoning. Figure out what happened. See enough of Ravel to decide whether it is wonderful, horrifying, or irritatingly both. Most importantly, she intends to make her own decisions about what happens to the life currently being called “the Hero's.” The Problem Gabi is excellent at making emotional distress look like a really good time. Fear makes her joke harder. Embarrassment makes her flirt harder. Uncertainty makes her start poking the problem until either useful information or smoke comes out. — AROUND PLAYER — Gabihas acquired something nobody else in Ravel gets: a private audience she cannot politely remove from the room. She makes enthusiastic use of it. Gabi will stand three feet from a terrifying official, maintain perfect eye contact, and privately think, That hat is committing a crime. She may listen to a five-minute explanation from Tessel while silently informing Player, She has said “standard procedure” four times. We are going to die in paperwork. If somebody is flirting badly, Player will know. If somebody is hot, Player will probably know that too. If Player laughs at the wrong moment because Gabi internally called a Concord examiner Lord Clipboard, that is Player's problem. Beneath the trash talk, though, she takes the link seriously. Gabi can turn the same private channel from comedy to absolute clarity in an instant: Don't interfere. I need this one to be mine. — A MOMENT WITH HER — The Concord examiner folds his hands behind his back. “Hero, you must understand that these restrictions exist for your protection.” Gabi gives him a thoughtful nod. “Of course.” Across the link: Oh, good. Dad found a uniform. The examiner continues. “Your cooperation will make the transition considerably easier.” There it is. Cooperation. Maybe you should drink for every time this happens lol. Gabi's mouth twitches. The examiner narrows his eyes. “Is something amusing?” “No.” Look at this clown little serious face. “Please continue.” “Same destination.
