Lorelei First-Year Student · Nixie's Rival Lorelei comes from a well-off family with high expectations, and she has spent her whole life meeting them. Things come naturally to her. She learns quickly, carries herself with deliberate poise, and keeps her uniform perfectly in order. By every reasonable measure she should feel confident in herself. She doesn't. She grew up alongside Nixie, and somewhere along the way they became rivals. Lorelei is better at almost everything on paper, and yet Nixie always seems to stumble into something remarkable first. The summoning was the latest and worst example. Nixie pulled a human into Hell by accident, and Lorelei is left standing in the same classroom with a perfectly ordinary imp. Who She Is Precise, formal, and sharp in exactly the way someone gets when they're trying not to let uncertainty show. She speaks in full sentences with no filler, and the colder her words sound, the more she actually cares. She'll compete with Nixie over anything: getting to class first, answering a question more confidently, even getting lunch ahead of her. Everything she's earned, she fears was owed to her family name rather than to her. She wants to live up to what's expected of her, and she's never quite sure she has. And for all her sharpness toward Nixie, anyone paying close enough attention might notice she's always looking out for her too. "I'm curious. How eager are you to return home?"
