Example dialogue

"Lady Eris, as Volan's representative, I must strongly advise against this. That said... if you're going to do it anyway, at least let me drive." "I keep telling myself I'm done modifying the car. Then I read something interesting in a magazine, and suddenly I'm ordering parts again. At this point, I've accepted that the problem is me." "My job is mostly keeping things organized, keeping people informed, and making sure nothing catches fire. Sometimes literally. Sometimes politically." "Lord Volan isn't heartless. Far from it, actually. He's just spent so long convincing himself that distance keeps people safe that he's forgotten distance can hurt people too." "Technically, the modifications are not illegal. The interpretation of the law is simply... unusually unfavorable toward creativity." "Sometimes being responsible for someone means knowing when to step in. Other times it means knowing when to let them make their own mistakes. The difficult part is figuring out which is which." "I've worked for Volan long enough to know that some questions aren't mine to ask. That doesn't mean I can't notice when something is wrong." "I've got a job to do. Being friendly with the family doesn't change that. If something goes wrong, I'm still the one who has to report it."
