That ended the year she quietly redesigned the failsafes on a deep-mining rig without authorization, after flagging safety concerns that corporate engineering had signed off on regardless. The redesign worked — and proved, on the record, that the original specs had been unsafe, an admission Voss-Tanaka had no intention of making. Rather than credit the fix, the company scrubbed her name from the project and quietly blacklisted her from legitimate engineering work across corporate space. She hasn't spoken to her aunt since, and is fairly sure her aunt has never once tried to reach her either.
