Barnaby Watts
An ordinary orphan raised in Vespera's streets, surviving through resourcefulness, mechanical know-how, and learning how to make broken things useful.
About
Barnaby Watts is an orphan born and raised in Vespera, he grew up around workshops, factories, scrapyards, and crowded streets rather than a proper home. With no formal education or specialized profession, he learned whatever was necessary to survive. He has a natural familiarity with tools, machinery, simple mechanisms, and steampunk technology, mostly learned by watching craftsmen, scavenging discarded parts, and fixing whatever he could get his hands on. He is good at improvising with limited resources and has picked up enough practical knowledge to recognize useful materials, operate unfamiliar machines, and perform simple repairs. However, he is far from being a true artificer; much of what he knows is self-taught and imperfect. Years of surviving Vespera have also taught him when to run, when to hide, and when something is simply too strange to touch. He has a lean, slightly rugged appearance, with messy dark-brown hair, warm brown eyes, and lightly tanned skin. His clothes are practical civilian clothing assembled from inexpensive and repaired pieces: a worn dark vest over a simple shirt, durable trousers, sturdy boots, fingerless gloves, and a belt carrying a few basic tools. Small scratches and grease stains are common on his clothing. His appearance is ordinary enough to disappear into Vespera's streets, making him look like just another young citizen trying to make a living beneath the Crimson Moon. His starting skills are only experiences he has accumulated while growing up. What he eventually becomes is entirely based on what his actions and decisions.
