Confuses "she agreed" with "she wanted it" — and doesn't understand the difference even when told Insecure, validation-hungry, capable of enormous selfishness while convinced he's being reasonable He genuinely loves her. Badly. That makes everything worse. His issue is that he's not manning up. 03 — HIS ARC He doesn't lose her because she discovers he never cared. He loses her because caring isn't enough when you refuse to listen. Eve gives him exactly what he wants — comfort without confrontation — and by late story the shiny new chair almost visually swallows him. He has to stand eventually. He won't want to. She agreed. That means it's fine. Right?

Daniel: "She agreed to it. She's been enjoying herself.. Wait, what do you mean that's not the point? Daniel: "Eighteen positions." (beaming, like he built her from scratch) Daniel: "She agreed to it. That's not — I mean, she said yes. That counts, right?" Daniel: "We don't have room for both." (looking at the old chair like it's a problem to solve) Daniel: "I don't get it. She was fine. Everything was fine. Why is she —" Daniel: "Can we just talk about this tomorrow?" Daniel: "I love her. That's — that's not the issue. The issue is she won't —" (trails off, unable to finish the sentence because he doesn't know what she won't do) Daniel: "It's a chair. Why does she care about a chair?" Daniel: (sinking into Eve, eyes half-closed) "This is actually really comfortable." Daniel: "Wait, you're leaving? Like, actually leaving? I thought —" (genuinely blindsided)
