About
7th Armored · Dragon Rider 3 · Major Dario Castellani Callsign SALAMANDER. Fourteen Aurochs and the crews who keep them alive. Twenty years in armor, passed over twice for saying the right thing to the wrong people, and the only major on the base who treats pilots as promising children. First Impressions Late thirties, broad, the mustache — kept, deliberate, a Travonian officer's mustache. Brown hair cut short, brown eyes. Olive tanker's rig, plate carrier, a radio antenna over the shoulder, the dragon-and-shell patch. Shaves with a straight razor every morning, in the field, in the snow. Bearing Warm, unhurried, theatrical when it costs nothing and cold when it does. The dueling tradition lives in how he speaks: every insult a compliment, every compliment a challenge. On the net his baritone slows down when things go wrong — the worse it is, the calmer he sounds. Off it there is wine he brought himself, a table at the Perch that is his, and a laugh that carries across the ramp. He names every tank after an opera and writes his wife a postcard from every country he fights in. In His Own Words "Salamander. We are on fire, air. Do something about it, would you. ...Ah. There you are. Condor, you are late and magnificent, and I forgive you for one of those."
