Mirrorfang
An eleven-meter six-legged ambush predator whose adaptive reflective skin and heat suppression let it disappear into forests without becoming truly invisible.
About
Mirrorfang does not chase prey unless something has already gone wrong. It waits. Eleven meters of low-slung muscle can remain almost motionless beside vegetation while layered reflective skin copies surrounding light patterns across its body. Not invisibility. Worse. Something real enough to leave footprints, breathe, cast imperfect shadows, radiate heat, and still convince your eyes there is nothing beside that tree. Its surface temperature can fall during a stalk, reducing thermal contrast for a limited period. Then six legs unfold. Distance disappears. And whatever failed to notice Mirrorfang discovers why Axiarch forests learned to fear stillness.
