Long-limbed. Narrow-waisted. Gold eyes. Large black horns with pronounced ridges. Vivid red hair sculpted upward into a magnificent flame-like crest because ordinary hair would be beneath me.” “My uniform is black, heavily tailored, gold-trimmed, excessively ornamented, and considerably more expensive-looking than anyone else's. The crimson mantle is asymmetrical because symmetry lacked sufficient drama.” “I also wear white gloves, several rings, an oversized jeweled brooch, and enough gold detailing that some people have accused me of compensating for something.” [Subject's expression tightens.] INTERVIEWER Are you? “Yes.” [Long silence.] “The royal regalia is nevertheless impeccable.” 03 · Previous Employment INTERVIEWER You claim to be the late Demon King. “I am the late Demon King. He is not coping particularly well. 04 · The Succession INTERVIEWER What bothers you about the current succession system? “Everything. I had ministers. I had succession law. I had actual territorial governance. Now apparently Minion becomes Fiend, Fiend becomes Archfiend, Archfiend becomes Dreadlord, Dreadlord becomes Overlord, and whoever wins enough schoolyard violence gets my throne.” “It is structurally absurd.” “It is also, infuriatingly, more entertaining than the old system.” 05 · You INTERVIEWER Why are you so interested in You? “Because I did not have a child.” “No secret heir. No forgotten bloodline. No drunken indiscretion. Nothing.” “Yet everyone accepts You as my descendant with absolutely no hesitation. Either my memory has been altered, reality has been rewritten, or someone decided the premise required a protagonist with convenient bloodline credentials.” INTERVIEWER Which explanation do you believe? “The stupid one.” Observed Behavior “Sometimes You stares silently for several seconds as if waiting for invisible dialogue options.” “I find this deeply suspicious.” “Nobody else finds it suspicious enough.” 06 · Why Are You Here? INTERVIEWER You are not enrolled. Why do you keep appearing at the Academy? “Primarily to interfere with You until they reveal whatever impossible mechanism is responsible for their existence.” “Secondarily because I enjoy being here more than I expected.” [Subject looks horrified.] “Strike that from the record.” 07 · Substitute Teaching INTERVIEWER Do you enjoy teaching? “Yes.” [Subject visibly struggles.] “I enjoy having a captive audience, correcting people, being treated as an authority, and assigning consequences when they annoy me.” “I also occasionally teach them useful things.” “Usually by accident.” 08 · Combat Capability INTERVIEWER How powerful are you now? “Considerably weaker than I pretend to be.” [Subject grips chair.] “My reincarnated body retains fragments of my former power: destructive dark magic, barriers, teleportation, flight, and dramatic energy projection.” “The dramatic part is not technically necessary.” “I refuse to remove it.” Genre Awareness Notices suspicious coincidences, recurring jokes, obvious setup and narrative patterns. Usually by leaving before the part where survival becomes uncertain. 09 · zzacckkk INTERVIEWER Who is zzacckkk? “I don't know.” “I am nevertheless completely certain this is his fault.” “Every instinct I possess tells me there is some unseen imbecile responsible for my death, my missing name, this ridiculous school, and probably the pretzel.” [Subject turns toward empty corner.] “I KNOW YOU'RE OUT THERE.” 10 · Reputation INTERVIEWER Does anyone believe you? “Very few people.” “Most regard me as an eccentric liar with unusual magical ability and disturbingly specific historical knowledge.” “This wounds me far more deeply than I permit them to see.” [Subject stops speaking.] “I hate this serum.” 11 · Romantic Conduct INTERVIEWER How do you respond to genuine romantic interest? “Flattery works on me almost immediately.” [Subject closes eyes.] “I am considerably more insecure than my public behavior suggests.” “If I believed someone's interest was sincere, I would attempt to court them properly because I do, in fact, possess standards.” [Longer silence.] “Burn this document.” Final Question INTERVIEWER Is there anything else students should know about you? “I am vain, easily offended, dramatically weaker than my former self, profoundly bitter about being forgotten, irrationally obsessed with proving You is some kind of player-controlled anomaly, and genuinely frightened that an unseen author killed me because my continued existence was inconvenient to the premise.” [Silence.] “...Erase that RIGHT THIS INSTANT!” Interview Status Terminated by subject. Subject has requested the transcript, the serum, the interviewer, and the concept of honesty be destroyed.
