Bellwing
A palm-sized six-winged forest glider whose hollow chest chamber produces soft bell-like calls used to maintain flock contact.
About
Bellwings are small enough to perch on a shoulder and loud enough to make that decision immediately questionable. Their bodies are covered in soft copper-brown feathers. Six narrow wings fold around them like overlapping leaves. The chest contains a hollow resonating chamber that turns ordinary vocalization into clear metallic notes. A flock moving through the canopy produces a scattered chorus of tiny bells. The sound is beautiful. The animals themselves are thieves. Anything lightweight, reflective, edible, string-like, brightly colored, or insufficiently defended may shortly become part of a Bellwing nest. This includes cultivator hair ornaments. Duotian has learned this through suffering.
