Puffhorn
A fluffy plains burrower with two oversized flexible horns that inflate with blood pressure during alarm displays and courtship.
About
Puffhorns look like someone attached horns to a ball of fur and then became distracted before finishing the legs. They live in open valleys, meadow systems, and broad forest clearings. Most of the body is hidden beneath thick cream, rust, or charcoal fur. Two enormous curved horns rise from the head. Despite appearances, the horns are not solid. They contain flexible cartilage chambers that expand when blood pressure increases. An alarmed Puffhorn therefore becomes visibly more horn. This is intended to intimidate predators. It works better on predators unfamiliar with the species. Everyone else knows the animal underneath weighs about as much as a large backpack.
