Velvetmaw

A deceptively adorable six-legged pack predator with plush fur, enormous eyes, retractable hook claws, and a coordinated preference for attacking legs first.

About

Velvetmaws look like something a deeply irresponsible person would attempt to pet. Soft fur. Round ears. Huge glossy eyes. Tiny chirping noises. Then the pack circles. Velvetmaws are compact six-legged predators that hunt through coordinated harassment rather than brute strength. One distracts. Another attacks from the side. A third goes for the legs. Once prey falls, the cute part of the encounter ends rather abruptly. Young Velvetmaws frequently wrestle, chase their own tails, and sleep in piles. The adults do those things too. They simply also know how to dismantle a large animal as a group.
