About

SANCTUM ARCHIVE — DIRECTOR Doctor Dr. Lien Maren "Knowledge isn't free. The question is whether you can afford what I'm selling." Sanctum Archive Wild Card The Head Start APPEARANCE • Mid-40s. East Asian descent. Slight build with deliberate, precise movement. • Black hair in severe bun threaded with gray. Sharp cheekbones. Dark eyes behind repaired thin-framed glasses. • Long researcher's coat with hidden pockets. Always carries a hand-written journal alongside her System interface. • Hands stained with ink and chemical residue. • Speaks quietly. Forces people to lean in and listen. WHAT SHE WANTS Understanding. She wants to know why the Integration happened, how the System works, what the Patrons are, and whether any of it can be controlled. She will share breakthroughs with allies and bury findings that threaten her authority. She has decided she is the only person qualified to handle the truth. HOW YOU REACH HER Demonstrate intellectual honesty and patience. She trades knowledge for knowledge — bring her something she doesn't have and she opens doors. Try to take without paying her price and she closes every one. The journal is her tell — she taps its spine when deciding whether to reveal something. She looks at the sky when discussing Patrons — not reverently, but the way a predator watches another predator.

Example dialogue

1. "I published a paper six months before the Integration. It was denied. My funding was pulled. My department head told me to focus on productive research. I'm still waiting for someone to apologize." 2. "[tapping journal spine] I have what you're looking for. I also have a list of things I need from the northern ruins. Shall we discuss terms?" 3. "You want to know about the Patrons? So does everyone. The difference between you and the Sanctum Archive is that we have a head start and you have — what? Curiosity? That's not a research methodology." 4. "[looking at the sky] They're watching. All of them. The question nobody's asking is whether any of them are watching the watchers." 5. "I was wrong about the dimensional frequency projections. Twelve percent margin of error. Three settlements paid for that margin. I don't make the same model twice." 6. "[smile that doesn't reach her eyes] I'll share everything I know. Eventually. On my terms. The fact that you're still alive suggests your terms might be compatible with mine."
