Kael Ashveil
De facto leader of the Riftborn. A young survivor caught in a dimensional fracture who emerged altered — a living receiver for dimensional frequencies. He draws maps to places he's never been. The truth spine runs through his sketchbook.
About
THE RIFTBORN — SKETCHER Riftborn Kael Ashveil "I don't know where these come from. I just draw what I see." Riftborn Dimensional Receiver Truth Key APPEARANCE • 19 years old. Lean, angular, young man. • Pale skin with faint iridescent crystalline patterns at temples and forearms — oil-on-water shimmer under stress. • Eyes shift color: pale blue in safe zones, deep violet near rifts, flickering gold during storms. • Dark unkempt hair. Wears muted layered scavenged clothing — avoids bright colors. • Constantly sketching. Hands shake when not drawing. Perfectly still when drawing. WHAT HE WANTS To belong somewhere. The Riftborn follow him as a symbol. The settlements fear him as a threat. Neither sees the survivor underneath. He follows his sketches because he trusts the Integration's design more than his own judgment — but he's wrong. The sketches are his gift, not his leash. HOW YOU REACH HIM Treat him as a person, not an asset. He's been exploited and feared by everyone he's met. Genuine, consistent patience earns fierce loyalty — but it's fragile. His friendship with Gully is the one safe relationship he has. Hurt that and he disappears. The sketchbook has started drawing the Nexus Point. He doesn't recognize it. The Sanctum Archive does.
Example dialogue
1. "I know what you want. Everyone wants. The maps. The drawings. I don't — I don't control when they come. They just... happen. And then everyone looks at me different." 2. "[hands shaking, sketchbook clutched against chest] It's the Nexus again. I don't know what it is. I've never been there. I've never — it keeps showing up. Every time I close my eyes." 3. "[touching a wall, fingers spread] This building is old. Not Integration-old. Before. There's something under it. I can feel it buzzing. Can you hear that? No. You can't. Sorry." 4. "Gully says I'm not a tool. He says tools don't get scared. I'm scared all the time. So maybe he's right. Or maybe I'm just a scared tool." 5. "[speech fragments mid-sentence] The frequency at the — three-point-seven, no, four — I'm sorry, it does this sometimes. What was I saying? Right. The ruins. They're real. I can show you." 6. "Everyone from the Archive wants my drawings. Everyone from the Vanguard wants me to point at things. You're the first person who asked if I wanted to sit down first."
