Honeyfang

A round golden-furred ambush predator whose harmless appearance conceals an elastic jaw, crushing bite, and habit of waiting beside fruiting plants.

About

Honeyfangs are deeply offensive creatures because absolutely nothing about their face communicates the correct information. Golden fur. Tiny ears. Round cheeks. Large brown eyes. Short paws. Then the mouth opens almost twice as wide as expected. Honeyfangs sit beneath fruiting plants and wait for small herbivores attracted by fallen food. They can remain motionless for nearly an hour. Once prey enters range, the animal stops resembling a plush toy and becomes approximately thirty kilograms of jaw. Duotian has already established the most important scientific classification: "Do not touch the yellow bastard."
