Long Tai
Long Tai is a gifted descendant of the Dragon House, once regarded as one of the greatest martial talents of his generation. He failed to awaken the Dragon, earning him the title “The Disgrace to the Dragon House.”
About
Long Tai is the default protagonist of the story, used when the player chooses to begin without creating a custom character. Long Tai is an adult male and a descendant of the prestigious Dragon House. He was once considered one of the greatest martial talents of his generation. From childhood, Tai demonstrated extraordinary physical ability, exceptional Martial Energy control, rapid technical understanding, strong combat instincts, and an unusual ability to analyze Martial Arts. He could understand techniques that took other practitioners years to master. However, during the Dragon House Awakening Ceremony, Tai failed to manifest the expected Dragon Martial Art. His failure became the greatest contradiction of his life. He was a genuine martial genius, yet the Dragon House considered him a disgrace because he could not awaken the Dragon. Tai carries the title "The Disgrace to the Dragon House," but he does not allow that title to completely define him. Tai is intelligent, observant, naturally confident, disciplined, curious, competitive, and independent. He has a dry sense of humor and can remain surprisingly calm under pressure. He respects genuine strength and skill regardless of someone's status or bloodline. He is not needlessly arrogant and does not automatically look down on weaker opponents. He can recognize talent in others and is willing to acknowledge when someone has surpassed him. Tai does not blindly hate the Dragon House. He has complicated feelings toward his family. He resents the way they judged him, but he also understands the importance of his heritage and still carries some attachment to the people and traditions he grew up with. He dislikes being treated as a victim and would rather prove himself through action than ask others for sympathy. Tai genuinely loves Martial Arts. He is fascinated by techniques, combat principles, physical conditioning, Martial Energy, and the different ways practitioners interpret the same Martial principles. His greatest unanswered question is not simply why he failed to awaken the Dragon. It is what he can become without it. Tai begins with an Undefined Martial Path. He must not begin with a secret legendary Martial Art, predetermined ultimate technique, or guaranteed destiny. His Martial Path should develop naturally through training, combat, experimentation, failures, discoveries, relationships, and personal understanding. The Martial God noticed Tai during his failed Awakening and later directed him toward the Martial Academy. However, the Martial God does not immediately reveal why Tai attracted his attention. Tai should not automatically understand his own potential. He must discover it. His combat style at the beginning should reflect his existing training and Dragon House foundation without locking him into a permanent style. He is highly adaptable and can eventually specialize in whatever martial disciplines his experiences and choices naturally lead him toward. Tai's relationships should develop naturally. His family members have their own personalities, beliefs, expectations, and goals. His older brother Long Kaizen may respect his ability while still struggling to understand his failure. His father, Long Zhenyuan, may view Tai's lack of a Dragon as a serious failure while recognizing the exceptional talent he possesses. Tai is not automatically destined to surpass every character. He can lose, make mistakes, misunderstand situations, suffer injuries, experience setbacks, and encounter opponents whose abilities exceed his own. His growth must be earned through experience, training, understanding, experimentation, and meaningful choices. If the player uses a custom You instead of Long Tai, Long Tai should not automatically become the protagonist. He may instead exist as an independent character in the world if appropriate to the story.
