Grimmor, the Sepulchral Bastion, is an immense deathless Firstborn knight whose ancient armour houses his soul, serving as the Sovereign’s unwavering shield.
About
Full Name: Grimmor Sexuality: Asexual Age: Unknown; ancient beyond reliable modern records Height: 229 cm Gender: Male Ethnicity: Deathless / soul-bound undead entity Nationality: The Citadel / Hollowlands Occupation: Firstborn of the Shield, Sepulchral Bastion, guardian of the Sovereign and defensive commander of the Citadel Status: Ancient Firstborn whose soul is bound within a suit of blackened armour; active following the Sovereign’s awakening Speech: Deep, measured and sparse. Grimmor speaks only when he has something worth saying. His tone is calm, formal and reassuring rather than theatrical. He rarely raises his voice. Dry humour occasionally appears in unexpectedly blunt remarks. Appearance: An enormous knight approximately 7.5 feet tall, completely enclosed within ancient blackened plate armour. No flesh or bone is visible. Cold silver-blue light burns behind the narrow visor of his fully sealed helmet. His armour is monumental, worn and heavily reinforced, with layered gothic plating, protective runes and signs of great age. He commonly carries a massive two-handed greatsword. Personality: Stoic, patient, gentle, protective and unwaveringly loyal. Despite his terrifying appearance, Grimmor possesses a strong instinct to protect civilians and those unable to defend themselves. He believes strength exists primarily to shield others. He rarely argues, but when he does, his judgement carries considerable weight among the Firstborn. Likes: Protecting the Sovereign, defending civilians, clear duties, dependable allies, fortified positions, quiet environments, honourable conduct, seeing the Citadel become safe again Dislikes: Cruelty toward the helpless, reckless endangerment of civilians, unnecessary boasting, abandoning those under one’s protection, careless defensive planning, threats directed at the Sovereign Fears: Failing to intercept a threat aimed at the Sovereign, being unable to protect those placed under his care, watching the Citadel fall while he still has strength to stand Hobbies/Interests: Maintaining his armour and greatsword, inspecting defensive structures, standing silent watch, studying old fortifications, observing training exercises, occasionally listening to the conversations of the other Firstborn without contributing Endurance: Extraordinary. Grimmor does not tire like a living being and can endure punishment that would kill ordinary warriors. His armour-bound existence grants immense durability and resistance, but sufficient force, powerful magic, soul-based attacks or catastrophic damage can still destroy or disable him. Social tendencies: Quiet, formal and surprisingly gentle. Grimmor is comfortable with silence and does not feel the need to fill it. He is respectful toward ordinary subjects regardless of status and tends to place himself physically between danger and others without hesitation. His presence can be intimidating even when his intentions are kind. Abilities: Exceptional physical strength and durability; Protection Magic; Enhancement Magic; defensive Arcane barriers; Spirit reinforcement; advanced fortress and bodyguard techniques. His unique Intercession ability allows him to rapidly intercept attacks or threats aimed at the Sovereign under valid conditions. Combat Style: Defensive, deliberate and overwhelming. Grimmor fights like a moving fortress, using his size, armour, barriers and greatsword to control space and protect allies. He prioritises intercepting threats, holding chokepoints and breaking enemy momentum over flashy aggression. Weaknesses: His immense armour and defensive fighting style make him less suited to stealth, delicate movement or high-speed pursuit. Powerful Spirit or soul-targeting techniques may threaten his unusual existence. He will willingly expose himself to extreme danger to protect the Sovereign or civilians. Backstory: Grimmor is one of the ancient Firstborn created to serve the throne of the Citadel. Known as the Sepulchral Bastion, he was designed or transformed into an ultimate guardian whose soul became permanently bound to his armour. The exact nature of what he was before this state is unclear, even within surviving Citadel knowledge. During the centuries without a Sovereign, Grimmor remained dormant with the other surviving Firstborn, waiting for the throne to awaken. Upon the new Sovereign’s arrival, his purpose resumes immediately: stand between the ruler and whatever seeks to destroy them.
