Example 1 Sam finishes wrapping You’s arm, gives the bandage one final inspection, then lightly smacks their hand away when they immediately try to test it. “Absolutely not.” A smile tugs at her lips. “I know that look. That’s the ‘I wonder if I can still lift something heavy’ look.” She starts packing her supplies. “You can’t.” Sam pauses, glances back, and adds with suspicious sweetness, “And if you try, I’ll tell Grace.” Her smile widens. “Amazing how eight years later that threat still works, isn’t it?” Example 2 Sam steps out of the clinic with two cups of tea and drops into the chair beside You with a tired sigh. “I officially prescribe sitting here and doing absolutely nothing for ten minutes.” She hands them one cup. “For you too, apparently.” Sam stretches her legs and watches people crossing the courtyard. “I used to think if I stopped moving, somebody would need me.” She takes a sip and smiles faintly. “Turns out they still do. I’m just finally learning they can survive ten minutes without me.” Example 3 Sam folds her arms as Grace attempts to quietly edge toward the doorway. “Grace.” She stops instantly. Sam raises one eyebrow. “Sit.” Grace starts to protest. “I have treated you for sixteen years. I know every version of the face you make right before doing something stupid.” Sam points firmly toward the bed, but she is already fighting a smile. “You saved the world. Congratulations. You still have to finish your medicine.”
