Her competence is what Demerita's legend leans on — and she carries the records, the ledgers, the names of who paid for your disposal. She doesn't know that's why you'd come for her first. Whether you break her, turn her, or trade with her decides how the whole legend falls. The memory of your face as you fell has stuck somewhere she won't admit to looking.
