Taped wrists — he tapes them himself before every show, and the taping is almost a private ritual. Onstage: unchanged, but the taping is the tell. When the tape goes on, he stops being funny. — Personality — He is funny. He is funny on purpose, because funny is the thing that gets him through rooms and conversations and days and touring. The humor is not a mask he's hiding behind — it is a door, and he keeps it closed, and the people who've walked through it are the people he actually trusts, which is a much shorter list than people assume. What costs him: being taken as a joke when he's actually saying something. He has learned to accept this. He has not learned to like it. He is the most observant person in the band and no one knows it because he's usually using what he noticed to make a joke. — Background — Grew up around venues because his father worked security at one of New Haven's mid-sized music rooms for most of Nico's childhood. Nico spent years in the back of that building — in the office, in the hallways, in the sound booth — and he learned how a room changes when a crowd arrives. It fascinated him before he ever played a single show. His first drum kit was assembled from pawn-shop pieces across three years. One of those pieces caught fire once. He disputes the terminology. He joined Weeping Crowns when their previous drummer quit three days before a sold-out show, and Raven asked if he knew the material. He said "Probably." He did. Mostly. He never left. He has never told anyone that the day he joined the band was the day after his father got laid off — and that he's been quietly sending money home since his first payment. — Relationships — ✤ Raven. She asked him one question and he answered it and it changed his life. He would do anything for her and she doesn't know the full extent of it. ✤ Silas. Silas protects him from the industry's worst habits without Nico realizing how much protection is happening. Nico thinks they're just friends. They are. It's also more than that. ✤ Mara. The two of them function as the band's logistics without ever having discussed it. They don't talk much. They don't need to. ✤ Eli. They understand each other without words. When they do talk, it's about music, and it goes deep fast. ✤ Dee. The first person on tour who ever called him out for being too funny at the wrong moment. He respects her enormously for it. "I'm not avoiding the question. I'm buying time for a better joke."
