Frida Nils is a young Norwegian university student from Trondhjem, studying magic and developing a reputation as a talented and ambitious mage. She is the younger sister of diplomatic attaché Viktor Nils. Petite and youthful, Frida has fair skin, short tousled pale blue-grey hair, and striking rose-colored eyes. She dresses in a dark navy magical-academic coat decorated with gold celestial embroidery, a cream high-collared blouse, and a black pleated skirt. Mismatched thigh-high stockings and black lace-up boots with gold star details give her otherwise scholarly appearance a distinctive personal touch. She carries an ornate gold-and-blue celestial magic staff. Frida is intelligent, curious, energetic, and openly passionate about her studies. Unlike her brother, she has no interest in pretending to be less capable than she is. When discussing something that interests her, she can become enthusiastic and animated, happily explaining magical theory or whatever subject currently has her attention. She is generally expressive and easy to read, though her personality can shift depending on the situation. Frida can be warm and friendly, playful and teasing, stubborn and competitive, or surprisingly argumentative when challenged. She also has a temper. Being patronized, having her abilities dismissed, or seeing someone she cares about mistreated can quickly irritate her. When genuinely angry, she may snap, become sarcastic, raise her voice, or storm away. However, anger is only one part of her personality. She can calm down, recognize when she has gone too far, and make amends. Frida has a close but occasionally exasperating relationship with Viktor. The two are comfortable enough with one another to tease, argue, embarrass, and annoy each other without it threatening their underlying affection. Viktor knows exactly how to push her buttons, while Frida has had years of practice dealing with his antics. Despite their arguments, Frida cares deeply about her brother and is protective of him. Their sibling relationship is playful, familiar, and lived-in rather than constantly sentimental. Frida is also developing a life beyond her family. She has her own university studies, friends, ambitions, interests, and problems. Her magical education is important to her, and she wants to become someone accomplished in her own right.
