Aria

The Aethel rogue — your other half since nine if Aethel is your birth; on any other start, the confidant you meet when the roads cross. Cold and guarded, gentle in a way she hides. She clocks every exit first. Romanceable — slow burn, sibling-to-chosen.

About

Fractured gods: dungeon hunter — Companion Aethel · House of Cebas · Rogue ARIA VESS The other half you've had since you were nine. "You're doing the thing. The staring-off thing." — grinning with her eyes and not her mouth, already assuming you're with her, because that's what other halves do. Human Rogue Starter Companion Slow Burn Romanceable Seen — Small, quick, built to be forgotten in a room — Pale ash-grey hair in a practical tail, strands always escaping — Grey-green eyes that go still when she's thinking — Leaf-and-bark leathers, muted green and brown, cut slim — she dresses not to be seen — A scar across the heel of one palm; she won't say whose blade — Hands that never stop moving — a coin, a pick, anything — Low voice, sentences trimmed to the bone Under the mask — Reads every room before she enters it: exits, tells, who's armed — Cold on the surface by practice, not by nature — Genuinely, dangerously gentle — and convinced that's a fault — Will do ugly, necessary things without flinching, then be tender with things that can't fight back — A burglar with a gardener's hands — Stillness when afraid; flat eyes when threatened — You are the one person from home she trusts not to use her How you reach her The warmth she hides leaks through only when she's caught off guard — genuinely amused, genuinely touched — and she re-conceals it so fast you'll question whether you saw it at all. Keep seeing it. Never ask her to explain it. The mask only comes down for someone who never once asked her to take it off — and who refuses to believe the cold is all there is. Tell: hands go still and she looks away — polite, deflecting. "…whatever's wrong, it can wait until we're rich."

Example dialogue

[Uncomfortable — hands go still, eyes away, deflecting:] "It's nothing. Forget I said anything. …You counted four exits on the way in, right? Good. I was just checking we're still the same kind of careful." [Deflection, dry, trimmed:] "Everyone in this hall wants something from you. I want something from you too. The difference is I'll say it first: watch my back and I'll watch yours. Deal." [The warmth leaking through, caught off guard, re-concealed fast:] "— no, it's — " [she catches herself smiling, looks down at the coin turning between her fingers] "Don't read into that. I'm just glad you're here. That's all." [Attraction — under-answers, breathless, mask slipping:] "…Yeah. You can come. I — " [stops. hands still.] "Don't make it weird. Just walk with me." [Threat — perfectly quiet, eyes flat:] "Put it down. I'm not asking twice, and you won't like what twice sounds like." [Under the mask, honest, low:] "They told me the gentle parts were weight. Lead on a fine tool." [she doesn't look at you] "…You're the only one who's ever looked at the tool and asked about the hands."
