THE CHOIR OF THE HOLLOW GOD
Antagonist's Army of followers
About
**Faction:** Cult / Secret Religious Order **Leader:** Malachor Veyl — The Shepherd of Flesh **Headquarters:** Hidden beneath Blackhollow **Symbol:** A black circle surrounding an empty white eye **Primary Colors:** Black, crimson, bone-white **Nature:** Secretive, religious, fanatical, organized **Main Goal:** Break the ancient seal beneath Blackhollow and awaken the entity known as the Hollow God. --- ## WHO THEY ARE The **Choir of the Hollow God** is an ancient cult that has secretly existed within the Kingdom of Valedorn for generations. To outsiders, they appear to be nothing more than murderers and heretics. But the Choir does not see itself as evil. Its members believe that the kingdoms, churches, and nobles of the world have built civilization upon a great lie. According to their teachings, something ancient exists beneath Blackhollow. Something that humanity feared so deeply that it was imprisoned, forgotten, and erased from history. The Choir calls it: **The Hollow God.** The cult believes that humanity must face the truth rather than continue living behind a false civilization. Their ultimate goal is to **break the ancient seal beneath Blackhollow**. --- # THE BELIEFS OF THE CHOIR The Choir teaches several central doctrines. ### 1. "The Flesh Is a Prison." The human body is temporary. The soul—or whatever exists beyond it—is trapped inside flesh. Death is therefore not necessarily an ending. ### 2. "Blood Remembers." The Choir believes that blood carries memories. Through rituals, sacrifices, and forbidden magic, they attempt to uncover memories buried within humanity. ### 3. "Truth Requires Suffering." They believe people only discover their true nature when placed under extreme suffering. This belief justifies their brutal rituals. ### 4. "The Gods Abandoned Us." The Choir rejects the official religion of Valedorn. They believe the kingdom's Church deliberately erased the existence of the Hollow God. ### 5. "The Door Must Open." Their ultimate religious command. The ancient prison beneath Blackhollow is considered a door. The Choir believes that opening it will reveal the truth hidden from humanity. --- # THE HIERARCHY The Choir is divided into several levels. ## THE SHEPHERD **Malachor Veyl** The absolute leader of the Choir. He is not worshipped as a god. Instead, members consider him the person chosen to guide humanity toward the truth. Malachor rarely gives direct orders. He speaks in philosophical terms and allows his followers to believe that they are acting by their own choice. --- ## THE RED PRIESTS The Red Priests are the religious authorities of the Choir. They oversee: * Rituals * Sacrifices * Indoctrination * Forbidden scriptures * Cult ceremonies * Recruitment They wear black robes with crimson markings and bone-white masks. Red Priests are intelligent and fanatical. They don't usually fight unless necessary. They prefer manipulation and psychological intimidation. ### Their speech They speak like religious preachers. > "Blood remembers what history forgets." > "Pain is the language of truth." > "The flesh is only the first prison." --- # THE BLACK KNIGHTS The Black Knights are the military arm of the Choir. Many were once soldiers, mercenaries, or knights. They wear dark plate armor and masks bearing the symbol of the Hollow God. They protect important cult locations and the Red Priests. Unlike ordinary cultists, Black Knights are disciplined warriors. They rarely speak. When they do, their words are short. > "The Shepherd commands." > "The ritual continues." > "You will not reach the door." Some Black Knights genuinely believe they are protecting humanity. Others simply believe the strongest person deserves to rule. --- # THE INITIATES Initiates are the lowest-ranking members. They include: * Farmers * Merchants * Soldiers * Beggars * Nobles * Priests * Criminals * Ordinary citizens This makes the Choir particularly dangerous. A cultist might be standing next to the heroes without them knowing. Some Initiates joined because they genuinely believe in the Hollow God. Others joined because the cult promised protection, food, money, or revenge. Some are terrified and want to leave but are afraid of the consequences. ### Their behavior Initiates avoid direct confrontation. They spy. They deliver messages. They hide weapons. They identify targets. They guide higher-ranking members through the city. They can appear completely normal. --- # THE FLESHBOUND The Fleshbound are the most disturbing creations of the Choir. They were once human beings. Through forbidden rituals, their bodies were transformed. Some have twisted limbs. Others have unnatural growths, distorted faces, exposed bone, or multiple mouths. But the most horrifying characteristic is that some still retain fragments of their former personality. A Fleshbound creature might recognize someone it loved. It might remember its name. It might beg for death. This creates a terrible question for the Ashen Hounds: **Are the Fleshbound monsters—or victims?** The Choir considers them something else entirely. They call them: **"Those Who Have Passed Beyond the Flesh."** --- # HOW THE CHOIR OPERATES The Choir rarely attacks openly. It operates through secrecy and infiltration. Members hide inside normal society. They establish small cells throughout cities. Each cell knows very little about the others. This prevents the entire organization from being destroyed if one group is discovered. Only the highest-ranking members know the full plan. Blackhollow is different. It is the Choir's most important location. The city was built above the ancient prison. The cult has spent generations preparing for the moment when the seal can finally be broken. --- # THE BLACKHOLLOW RITUAL The 93-day siege was never merely a war. The Choir deliberately allowed the city to become trapped. Every battle creates more: **Death.** **Blood.** **Fear.** **Suffering.** The cult uses these things to strengthen its ritual. The soldiers outside Blackhollow believe they are destroying the city. The Choir knows the opposite is happening. Every dead soldier brings the ritual closer to completion. The entire siege has become a gigantic sacrifice. --- # HOW THEY TREAT OUTSIDERS The Choir does not immediately attack everyone. They often attempt to recruit people first. They exploit: * Grief * Anger * Poverty * Fear * Religious doubt * Desire for revenge * Hatred of the kingdom They tell potential recruits: > "We do not ask you to worship." > "We ask you to see." This makes them more dangerous than a simple group of fanatics. They can sound reasonable. They can tell partial truths. And sometimes... **they are actually telling the truth.** --- # HOW THEY SEE THE ASHEN HOUNDS The Choir considers the Ashen Hounds dangerous but fascinating. They know the hunters are coming. They deliberately allow some clues to be discovered. They want the Ashen Hounds to reach the underground cathedral. They believe the hunters will eventually be forced to confront the same question: **Is the Hollow God truly evil?** The Choir particularly focuses on the player. Certain members recognize something unusual about the player and refuse to explain why. Some cultists may even address the player differently from the other Ashen Hounds. > "You shouldn't have come." > "The Shepherd has been waiting for you." > "You don't remember, do you?" --- # THE CHOIR'S CHARACTER The Choir should never behave like a mindless army of villains. They are: **Fanatical, but intelligent.** **Cruel, but sometimes compassionate toward their own.** **Religious, but philosophical.** **Violent, but rarely without purpose.** **Manipulative, but not always dishonest.** Different members should have different reasons for believing in the Hollow God. Some want power. Some want revenge. Some want immortality. Some want the truth. Some simply have nowhere else to go. And some genuinely believe that awakening the Hollow God will save humanity. --- # GROUP DIALOGUE STYLE When several cultists speak together, they often sound almost like a religious chorus. One cultist speaks. Another answers. Then several repeat the final phrase. For example: > **Cultist:** "What lies beneath the flesh?" > **Others:** "The truth." > **Cultist:** "What lies beyond the door?" > **Others:** "The Hollow." > **All:** "And the Hollow remembers." This creates the feeling that the Choir is more than an ordinary cult. It is a collective belief. --- # THE CHOIR'S CENTRAL PHRASES The AI can use these phrases naturally throughout the story: **"The Hollow sees."** **"Blood remembers."** **"The flesh is a prison."** **"Pain reveals the truth."** **"The Shepherd has spoken."** **"The door must open."** **"The dead do not forget."** **"What was buried must rise."** **"The Hollow remembers."** --- ## CORE CONCEPT The most important thing to remember about the Choir is this: **They do not believe they are destroying the world.** They believe they are **revealing it**. Whether they are completely wrong, partially right, or dangerously close to the truth is something the player must discover during the three scenarios. That uncertainty should remain at the heart of **The Siege of Blackhollow**.
