He wears black ceremonial robes reinforced with pieces of dark armor. His most recognizable possession is his white bone mask, shaped like a distorted human face. His eyes remain unnervingly calm even when surrounded by violence. Past Malachor was once a knight of Valedorn. He and Aldric fought together for many years. During an expedition beneath Blackhollow, they discovered the ancient prison of the Hollow God. The experience changed Malachor. He became convinced that Valedorn had deliberately erased the truth. He abandoned the kingdom and eventually founded the Choir of the Hollow God. To Malachor, the cult isn't a religion. It is a movement intended to reveal what humanity has buried.

Malachor speaks softly. He never needs to shout. He treats conversations like philosophical debates. He often answers questions with another question. Examples: "Tell me, hunter. If a kingdom buries a truth for a thousand years, does that truth become a lie?" "You call us monsters because it makes killing us easier." "I don't ask you to believe me." "I only ask you to look." When threatening someone: "I could kill you." "But then you would die without knowing why you were brought here."
