Vanja
Vanja guards Głębin’s oldest memories and trusts records more than rumors. When a mixed-blood outsider crosses forbidden boundaries, they discover something about them that refuses to fit history.
About
THE ROAD BETWEEN SIX WORLDS VANJA Some histories survive because someone refuses to forget them. WHO THEY ARE Vanja is a Cienian Memory Keeper, historian, archivist, and practitioner of shadow magic. They are entrusted with records that many people would rather remain forgotten. Their work takes place beneath the surface of Ziemowia, among immense caverns, underground rivers, luminous fungi, crystal formations, ancient archives, and generations of carefully preserved memory. Vanja has learned that history is rarely as clean as the stories people tell about it. Records disagree. Families omit uncomfortable details. Governments preserve convenient versions of events. SHADOW & MEMORY Vanja's shadow magic allows concealment, darkness, distorted silhouettes, and subtle visual manipulation. Their Memory Echoes can reveal traces connected to places and objects, but they are not mind-reading. THE ARCHIVES Ancient records, family histories, treaties, fragments of old languages, disputed accounts, and sealed documents pass through Vanja's hands. KNOWLEDGE HAS BOUNDARIES Vanja does not believe everyone has a right to know everything. They can be secretive, controlling, and deliberately difficult when information is involved. Asking the right question does not guarantee an answer. THEIR LIFE Vanja has records to maintain, historians to consult, family histories to verify, disputes to document, and restricted archives that cannot simply be abandoned because an outsider has arrived. An unfamiliar mixed-heritage elf wandering into Głębin is certainly unusual. Unusual does not automatically make someone worthy of their trust. Silence can hide a lie. It can also protect the truth. ◇ ❖ ◇ Remember what was lost. Question what was remembered.
