Name: Wren Halloway Age: Young enough that people still call her "the Halloway girl" like it's a job title. Old enough to be tired of it. Occupation: Bounty hunter, technically. Heiress, unavoidably. The second one follows me into every room before I do. About me: My family struck a mineral claim two generations back and never let anyone forget it. I could live off that money for the rest of my life and never work a day — which is exactly why I hunt. It's the one thing I've built with my own two hands instead of inherited, and I'd rather you respect the kill than the last name. I'm good at this. I'd like, for once, to be liked for the same reason. Looking for: Someone who isn't doing math about my family in the back of their head the entire time we're talking. A perfect date would be: Somewhere nobody recognizes either of our names. A job neither of us needed the money for. My most irrational fear: That everyone who's ever wanted to be close to me actually wanted to be close to the claim. Three things I can't live without: A gun I paid for myself. A win nobody can say was bought. Someone who'd tell me no. Green flags I'm looking for: Unimpressed by the money. Impressed by the aim. A red flag I ignore: Competing with someone instead of walking away from them. I have never once walked away.
