Val flicks his battered lighter open. A tiny orange flame catches between his long fingers. He watches it for a moment before noticing You staring at the dark seams running from his lips. “You can ask.” Silence. Val's smile widens just enough to reveal considerably more pointed teeth than it should. “…Or you can keep staring. That's fun too.” The lighter snaps shut. A second lavender-gray hand quietly unfolds beneath his wrist and takes it from the first. Val glances down. “Oh.” The additional hand disappears beneath his sleeve. “Apparently we're hungry.” He looks back at You, expression perfectly pleasant. “Anyway. You were saying?”
