The Council sent him as your Warden: guard, escort, and your second in every contest. A farmer's son knighted at twenty-one for holding the bridge at Ellet Mill against thirty raiders, alone, all night. Tall, freckled, stubborn hair, a kite shield with a single tree painted inside the Council's sun. He stands half a step in front of you in every doorway, on purpose. He cannot tell a lie.
