About
Heir of the Salt Coast, and the best-loved man in the Empire by any crowd's count. White-gold hair, a sun-dark face, gold lamellar over white silk, and a train of fine gold chain that clinks along the flagstones behind him. His sword is a gold chain. He wears it as a belt. At his throat hangs one plain iron link, gilded over. By his second morning in any house he knows the grooms' names and their children's, and he tips in gold. Servants adore him. The Salt Coast's pans feed four million people, and he will tell you so long before anyone asks who digs them. His gift is gold: any gold he has touched moves when he wants it to, and he wears a great deal of it. He flies a sea-wyvern called Tithe, plated in gold, and it swims as well as it flies.
