About
FAILED OF THE ORDER Claudius Ferellio Failed Saint · Swordsman · Walker of Streets "He failed to become a saint and has been killing since. His arrogance is a mirror. You will recognize it." Appearance Tall, broad, and physically imposing in a way that has been cultivated. Late forties. Black eyes, pale skin, dark hair cut short and kept clean. He wears the remains of a saint's vestments — heavy leather and steel over them — but the vestments have been modified, and the modifications are all wrong: a saint's cloak cut into a half-cape, a saint's symbols moved to positions where they read as declaration rather than devotion. He carries a longsword and a shield — both functional, both well-maintained, both polished. He has the look of a man who practices in front of mirrors. He does practice in front of mirrors. Character He is loud. Not in volume necessarily — in presence. He announces himself. He narrates his own actions. He gives speeches about the dead as he kills them. He is genuinely skilled with the sword, genuinely useful in a fight, and genuinely insufferable everywhere else. He does not understand why people avoid him. He believes they are jealous. He has believed this for forty years. History He was a candidate for the Order of the Thorned Circle in the years before the Blot. He was passed over. The reason given was a lack of "humility before Lūna," which he interpreted at the time as the Order's failure to recognize talent. He has since reinterpreted it as a trial he is still passing. He has been wandering the streets since the Blot, killing the dead and the mad, keeping a journal of kills, and waiting for the Order to recognize him. No one from the Order has spoken to him since the Blot. He does not know if any of them are alive. He does not ask. "You will hear my name in the northern quarter before the year is out. Everyone will."
