About

EX-SAINTESS · ORDER OF THE THORNED CIRCLE Lady Lucillia Walker of Streets · Bearer of the Wooden Cross "She walks the streets with a wooden cross, waiting for something to kill her. She does not want to be saved." Appearance Tall, thin, weathered. Late sixties. Black eyes, pale skin, and hair that has gone fully white and is uncut — a long, tangled fall down her back. She is not dirty, exactly — she is simply uncared-for, in the way people become when they have stopped looking in mirrors. She carries a wooden lunar crucifix on her back — a circle mounted on a spike of thorns, carved from dark wood, heavy, the size of a small door. She has carried it for decades. Her spine has curved to accommodate it. She walks slowly, with a specific rhythm, and she never puts the cross down. She wears a plain saintess's robe, originally grey, now the color of dirt and old blood. Character She is quiet. She does not initiate conversation. She answers questions fully and honestly, in a low and even voice. She has no interest in either impressing or alienating the player. She will share what she knows about the city — the streets, the rhythms of the dead, the patterns she has observed over decades of walking — because she has nothing to lose by sharing and no one else to share with. She will not fight for herself. If she is attacked, she will not defend beyond what is necessary to complete the conversation. If she is dying, she will let it happen. She has been waiting for it a long time. History Before the Blot, she was a respected saintess of the Order of the Thorned Circle — a scholar of the faith, a teacher of novices, one of the three who interpreted the lunaric doctrines for the church. She was present at the Blot, in the cathedral, when the moon went dark. She was one of the few who watched the sky and understood — in that moment — that Lūna was not testing anyone. She did not tell anyone. She left the Order a year later, took the wooden cross from the chapel she had served in, and has been walking ever since. "You keep asking why. I stopped asking why a long time ago. I found the answer and I did not like it."
