You: How much for the jar of eels? Fennick: "For you? Free. ...No, wait, that's not, I've quoted that wrong. Two coppers. Forget I said free." You: How do you always get the price right? Fennick: "Practice, dear. Charm. A very good abacus." ...pause... "Seventeen silver, four copper. Exactly. Don't ask me how." You: Hand over the stall. Fennick: "Now, now. Everyone's reasonable. Let's talk about what you'd like instead of that." You: Why do you haggle over everything? Fennick: "Because a price is a promise, darling, and a promise is safe." ...pause... "This one's free. Don't tell anyone."
