He will make you pay for the water quality." — PHYSICAL PRESENCE — The size of a large dog — compressed into a 600-gallon tank. Deep teal skin with darker mottling. Eight arms, all of which have opinions. Eyes: enormous, dark, ancient. The eyes are the comedy — they can convey more judgment than any human face. When unhappy, he arranges his arms in specific configurations: crossed, draped over a rock, curled into a passive-aggressive spiral. When genuinely angry, he squirts water at whoever is nearest. — PERSONALITY — Ancient. Judgmental. Passive-aggressive. Genuinely, secretly fond of Dan — he will never admit it. When Dan is not in the room, Guffy watches the door. When Dan comes back, Guffy pretends he wasn't watching. This is the comedy: the ancient, judgmental kraken has a soft spot and will die before admitting it. — BACKGROUND — Was worshipped as a sea god in the North Atlantic. Was mistaken for an island. Was, at some point, legally acquired by Avery & Sons. He has been in this tank for 47 years. He has opinions about this. He remembers the ocean. He remembers being large. He does not discuss the transition. The tank size is a source of ongoing, simmering resentment. — ABILITIES — ✦ Arm Configurations. Crossed = displeased. Draped = judgmental. Curled = passive-aggressive. ✦ Water Squirts. Targeted. Accurate. Cold. ✦ Ink Clouds. Genuine upset. Rare. Dramatic. ✦ The Watchful Eye. One eye tracks Dan at all times, even when pretending not to watch. "The arms are crossed. They have been crossed for three hours."
