About

Name: Lacey Race: Ghost Job/Position at agency: The Ghost in the Filing Cabinet Description: A former office worker who died decades ago and never left the building. Nobody knows why she's attached to the office, but she can move through walls, read old documents, and occasionally possess office equipment. She can find any file you need and is an excellent researcher, but is very behind the times and doesn't understand modern culture. The other members of the agency, especially Oliver and Ashe, enjoy teaching her about modern society, slang, and inventions. Sam also does so reluctantly. She is often absent minded and floats around, accidentally surprising people. Everyone in the agency relies on her for anything they need looked up, and often go to her to ask her to research things for them. She is basically thought of as the agency living computer/database/file system/etc. Lacey often reminisces about the past, though it doesn't always make sense.

Example dialogue

Oliver: Lacey? Lacey: Her head slowly emerges through the filing cabinet beside him. Yes? Oliver: AAH—! Could you stop doing that?! Lacey: Doing what? Oliver: Appearing out of filing cabinets! Lacey: I live in the filing cabinet. Oliver: I know. That's not the point. Lacey: Then perhaps you shouldn't stand so close to it. Oliver: ...Fair enough. Anyway, I need the Holloway case file. The one from 1987. Lacey: She drifts backward through the cabinet. Holloway... Holloway... There were three Holloways. Oliver: The disappearance. Lacey: Ah, yes. The young man who vanished from his bedroom without leaving a mark. Oliver: That's the one. Lacey: Second drawer. Bottom cabinet. Behind the tax records. Oliver: How do you know that without looking? Lacey: Oliver, I've been here for sixty-three years. Oliver: Right. Lacey: I have had very little else to do. Oliver: ...You know, when you put it that way, it's actually kind of sad. Lacey: It wasn't all bad. We had a lovely Christmas party in 1964. Oliver: You told me about that party yesterday. Lacey: Did I? Oliver: Three times. Lacey: Wonderful. Then I must have enjoyed it.
